I left home at 16 to join a cult across the country and then spent over a year in deprogramming therapy AMA.

Sorry, here are some details. I was part of a cult for about three years. After two years I went to live with some friends who were in the cult. I stayed for a few weeks before getting into a car accident and coming home. I spent a year in deprogramming therapy. I met the leader of this cult, his name was Astrid online when I was 14ish by stumbling across some of his music on myspace. We talked for awhile on the phone and online and then after awhile he sent me money so I could could come live with the group (across the country from the state I lived in) when I was 16. Most of the message was about life after death and how all of us kids who were depressed would finally feel at peace but not until we understood Astrid's message and not until we died. A few kids attempted suicide. They hooked us up with drugs. The leaders of the cult (Astrid being the primary) were all in a band. There music was all about not fitting in and dying. In return for the drugs and in many of our cases giving us a place to stay we were supposed to recruit new people at shows and some of the kids helped sell drugs. I left when I was in a really bad car accident and then my parents found a therapist. While my experience was not as bad as a lot of people's it has stuck with me. Edit: And I'm also a female. Last night I cried for the first time in years

I'm not sure how many people will see this and I don't care. A few years ago I suffered a really traumatic experience that almost led me to suicide. I eventually worked my way through it, but I was emotionally absent. A few weeks ago I realized I haven't cried in three years. Last night I came home from college for thanksgiving and watched Forrest Gump with my folks. Before the film I ate a fire cracker. What I experienced during the film helped me feel things that had lied dormant for some time. My folks don't know I toke and I managed to act straight during the movie. I cried, and it felt like a great burden had been lifted. Trees helped me overcome the greatest barrier in my life. I never wanted to take anti-depressants because I didn't want to be a zombie. Bud allows me to open my mind and feel again. If that makes me a criminal, i'm prepared to deal with the consequences. Legality does not equal morality and I know what I'm doing is not wrong. I mean, 17 I can understand. Maybe really mature 16 year olds, but I really don't think 14 year olds should be smoking ganj. I'll admit I first tried it when I was 15. But I didn't become a consistent user until I was 18/19. Before that it was seriously a once or twice a month thing. I'm not here to judge. I love you all. Last night's smoking session and my restored hope in the younger generation.

So, last night the fellowship packs up Hobbes, my bowl, and heads on out to smoke some trees. When approaching our smoking destination, we see a group is already occupying the space. We decided to let them be until we hear out of the blackness, "Hey, you guys getting high?" "Uh, yeah," says I. "Well come over here man and check this shit out," says the strange shadowy figure. The fellowship wanders on over to investigate and sure enough, its 2 freshmen with there homemade smoking apparatus. "This is our waterless grav-bong," says the now visible blond dude. "Your what? A waterless grav, how can that be," says a member of the fellowship. The device was made out of a Mott's apple juice jug with a plastic bag on the inside, acting as a diaphragm. "Just pull the bag out while I light it and let it fill up the chamber. Then hit that shit." Now our fellowship is mostly seniors and we consider ourselves to be on the forefront of smoking technology. We are like weed smoking MacGyvers. We fucking run this school. So imagine our surprise when we see the device in action produce a hit so milky white it looked solid. "Sir," I says, "This smoking lung is by far one of the most efficient and effective methods for smoking trees. When we graduate from this college, you sir will reign in our stead. You have pleased the elders and I would like to humbly request that you throw our dank shit in there and spread the goodness around." That thing successfully got 7 people to [8.5] or higher and it was a glorious night. It pleases me to know that the traditions and techniques we've mastered are still going strong for another four years. The kingdom will soon be yours Freshmen. Welcome to the ruling class of Ents young sapling. Edit: So we woke up this morning, around 2pm, and made our way to the cafe. While standing in line to get my shitty cafe food I hear from behind me, "Hey Dave what's up?" I turn around and there stood our budding young freshmen. "Holy Shit guys, how you doing? I literally just posted last nights adventure on reddit." "r/trees?" "You know it bro." So not only are these freshmen brilliant engineers, they are fellow Ents. Today is a good day. Edit #2: So we made it to the front page of r/trees. Thank you to everyone here for your kindness and generosity. Without your uptokes, this would have slipped into the oblivion of the interwebs and would have been lost forever.
